
KEEP OFF THE GRASS
Keep Off The Grass is a short film that resonated globally with its exceptional reception. From its screening at Cineworld to winning numerous awards and securing nominations at various international film festivals, this project stood out. Notably selected as one of the 15 films at the prestigious Iris Prize, it reached wider audiences through national TV and eventually found a streaming home on Channel 4.
The pitch is no place for love. When young Sunny Cooper, an amateur football player, struggles to come to terms with his sexuality and as the final game of the season approaches, tensions rise. Sunny and love interest Josh, can't bring themselves to embrace their connection in this environment. Sunny will have to fight not only for what he wants on the pitch, but also off it.
Keep Off The Grass is a short film created to highlight the taboo topic of homophobia in football. Across the world, the issue is still rife, with only one footballer out while still in the profession. The film was shot in 2021 in South London, and has since been screened across the world as part of its extensive festival campaign.
The award winning short has been recognised and screened at prestigious festivals including the British Independent Film Festival, KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival and more. In May 2022, the film premiered in the Midlands in CINEWORLD. Eventually, the film was broadcasted on Channel 4 and is streaming on All4 until 2023.
